BBW was established in 1993 with the aim of providing truly independent and professional consultancy services. The directors had previously worked for major corporate organisations and were very aware of large consultancy companies providing relatively little value for high cost. BBW’s role was to break the mould.
The business developed quickly in the mid 1990’s despite the economic situation at that time. Major clients ranged from HM Government to local authorities and international companies, all of whom turned to BBW for advice and support. During this time BBW developed a reputation for impartiality and a practical approach to business.
The late 1990’s saw a major repositioning of the company as we grew from a niche consultancy to being a major player in our market with a proven track record for independence and professionalism. It was also the correct time to move into the convergence and data market and start to bring different communications media and infrastructure together.
BBW’s role developed in the public eye, with our close working relationship and support for the Telecommunications Users Association and an increasing amount of time spent by employees on the lecture circuit.
The developments in the Internet in the late 1990’s also saw further development in the company with the takeover of Techshop International Ltd, a web development consultancy and e-commerce company. This additional expertise now allows BBW to provide an extensive range of consultancy and support products across all communications areas.
The new millennium saw BBW’s repositioning as a converged voice and data communications consultancy completed. Major client projects included substantial work on IP-VPN technology, contact centres and, as ever, enhancing quality. BBW also launched the only complete communications training programme, which includes courses at entry level, advanced, communications management and communications instructor.
While the general economic picture looked uncertain in 2000 - 2002, BBW continued to grow. Projects included helping clients to reduce costs and to utilise new technology. We also extended our services to both health and education sectors.
Since 2003 the UK communications market has seen substantial growth and the full implementation of IP based voice technologies. BBW have been leading with some of the most complex installations and using a range of suppliers and manufacturers. The real change for convergence came in 2005 where all but one project resulted in the implementation of converged technologies rather than traditional TDM telephony solutions.
2005 – 2008 saw a major period of growth in converged voice, LAN, WAN and supported technologies. BBW advised a range of major clients on the integration of these technologies. During this period, BBW won a contract with Network Rail to undertake a detailed testing programme to evaluate how VoIP technologies would integrate with their existing voice networks.
The recession in 2008 and the start of 2009 saw BBW’s workload on cost control increase substantially. We have advised many clients on driving down all aspects of communications costs whilst maintaining and improving the reliability of services.
The future for BBW is very positive with a high profile in the consultancy industry, strong partnerships with other organisations and a client base which is continuing to grow and develop.
